The Lake Logde

This is a lodge on Mink Lake that I painted for a wilderness leadership organization in Minnesota. I had gone on one of their canoe trips with some ladies and was inspired by their approach to guiding and character development and the value of being out in nature. I saw this photo and received permission to paint it; I felt that this glowing light resembles their ministry in the world and it just brings a good feeling because so many can relate to this scene. Everything was basically done in order of background to foreground. Because it was painted in acrylic my method for best achieving the smokey look was to dry-brush in light layers.
