The Work and The Wonder

This plein air painting was done in the woods over the course of 7 days. The large scale and the details I desired to include made this work a grand and very satisfying challenge. The bee hive and the smoker are the focal point of the painting but the story is supported by the relationship between the weight of the rock and the lightness of smoke, the details of the thistle and soft brush of the pine.
