Sunset Serenity

Sunsets are one of my favorite sources of inspiration. They have been ever since I started using pastels eight years ago. This particular piece was done on a very calm night in North White Plains, NY, at a small lake just off of a main road. There wasn't much room for me to pull over and set up, but the way that little island was sitting in the composition, screaming for me to capture it, I had no choice but to make it work. The sunset was peaceful and gradual. No dramatic clouds, or bold and bright colors. Just a simple scene for anyone who noticed. This is why I titled it "Sunset Serenity."
