"Logs & Clear Water" was created at the Kensico Reservoir in Valhalla, NY. It is a location I frequented a lot while living there. I would always focus on the water and different vantage points looking out across it. The composition for this piece hit me like a ton of bricks as I walked passed it. The usual scenes just weren't appealing that day. I knew it was (and still is) completely different for me, both subject wise and stylistically, so if I were far from home I probably would not have attempted this. Since I knew I could go back if needed I welcomed the challenge. Clear water is always mesmerizing, and the way the logs were being lit by the sun, the distortion in the direction the logs were going once under the water, and the glimmers of light reflecting of the water's surface made this an incredibly fun and challenging piece for me. I feel I did the subject justice in presenting it as it was calling for and in reflecting myself and my abilities as well.
