TWO TIME AWARD-WINNING "Sunset's Autumn Glow" has won second place in the Cabarrus Art Guild Spring 2021 Spring Juried Show and third place in Mooresville Arts 2021 43rd annual SpringFest Juried Show and Competition!
Every time I see a sunset I want to paint it! They are all unique and this one caught my attention because of how the last few minutes of the sun was spent behind this group of trees in the distance. The refracted glow split across many of the foreground trees yet not all of them! I was able to use that silhouette for my focal point where I had the best contrast of both value and color. The light, shadows, and colors in this harmonious palette were complex but I was able to use various compressed values throughout in order to eloquently paint this evocative sunset!
